Alfred Wilmot is a Scot who, following his retirement in 2006, decided to move permanently with his wife to the South of France, where they quickly became immersed in the local village community which they now call home.
Apart from writing, his hobbies include gardening, running and looking after the vines of one of his many vigneron friends - all equally suited to his new life in the sun.
John, an English widower, was taking a holiday at Villaenvale in France. There, he met the enchantingly beautiful lady, Monique, whose father, Pierre Legrange runs a café business in the area. John was head-over-heels in love with Monique.
