The author’s parents met and married in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) during WW2. After the war, they moved to Singapore, where he was born, later returning ‘home’ by sea. After school, he joined the Merchant Navy as an apprentice and sailed around the world, deep sea / foreign going, until he gained his Master’s Certificate. From then until retirement, he sailed mainly on supply vessels in the North Sea oil industry. Up until now, his only attempts at creative writing have been work-related reports.
