My Adopted Life

James Bull

My Adopted Life captures a snapshot of a time gone by, when Milton Keynes was in the beginnings of its development as a planned city. James, who grew up in Milton Keynes during the 1970s, chronicles life roaming around the estate he lived on with his friends, his parents' constant commitment to do their best by him and his older sister (who was also adopted), and his growing teenage obsession with the mod movement and the band The Jam. He recounts his career, adventures with friends travelling around Europe on cycling trips and to concerts, and falling in love more than once.
In this memoir, James Bull tackles the poignancy of loving his adoptive family but wanting to know more about where he came from-and learning that his birth family might be related to him, but that connection won't automatically create a perfect reunion.
