Happy Valley

Roy E. Dunford

Mortby and his grandfather are moles. They love the darkness of their underground home but the rain always seems to find its way down to them.

So they pack their bags and head into the bright light of day to find somewhere new to live – somewhere warm and dry, with soil soft enough to dig.

They travel far, meeting other creatures along the way and eventually arrive somewhere magical, seemingly offering everything they need and more. The place is called Happy Valley.

ABOUT ROY E. DUNFORD

After leaving school, Roy E. Dunford spent twelve years in the army. Later, after settling into civilian life, he took the post of senior housemaster at a boarding school and was also detachment commander of an army cadet group.
He has always enjoyed art, and when working at the boarding school students would often ask him to draw for them.
His children and grandchildren were interested in the stories he made up, so a combination of art and stories brought what is now called Happy Valley.
