Life Beyond

Joanna Georgiou

Maddie's attitude at school and home leaves a lot to be desired. When she has her phone confiscated, she thinks she's going to be in for a dull weekend without being able to stay in touch with her friends. What she doesn't realise is that adventure awaits when she follows her little sister through some tiny doors in the garden shed.

Sammi has been to Candy Land before, but this time they are trapped there by an evil jelly bean who makes them complete levels of the game in order to escape. As Maddie tries to work out how to get through the challenges to save herself and her sister, they meet some odd characters. Will the sisters manage to make it back home? Why are they having to complete these tasks? What will Maddie learn about herself as she tries? And are the strange characters they've met really what they seem?

"It's fun, exciting and interesting. You want to know what is going to happen next."
Kyri Teer-Hutchins

"It teaches you to not be addicted to your phones and tablets and try to explore more. You never know what you might find."

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to become a primary school teacher. After completing my GCSE's and college diploma in childcare, I went on to university where I successfully graduated as a teacher. Over the years, it was clear to see that children were slowly becoming more addicted to technology and social media; which therefore inspired me to write my first novel: Life Beyond. This book aims to teach children that there's life beyond technology and social media.
