This is a story about six young men who were born at a similar time and whose fathers fought at the Battle of Waterloo. It is a story of their lives and how they met at Cambridge university to become close friends. They went on to be cavalry officers and fought bravely in the Crimean War, where they were involved in the Charge of the Light Brigade. After the war, they returned to their families, where they continued their engineering disciplines, becoming leaders in their various fields pioneering industrial development.

ABOUT B. E. TURNER


Born in North Yorkshire, I served a five year engineering apprenticeship and after gaining the appropriate qualifications spent many years teaching engineering. I worked for a number of colleges as a lecturer and many industrial companies as an engineer. I live in West Yorkshire with my wife, Joan, a pharmacist. We have three married children and six grandchildren, who all live in the area.
