One Missed Step

Barbara Morris

Isle of Skye, 1993. At seventeen, Kate Wilder is sure of only two things – that life will never be the same without her mother and that she has no interest in communicating with her Canadian father. But Fiona Wilder has made plans for Kate, her sister Hazel and her estranged husband, plans which involve travelling from Skye to his Vancouver Island home and meeting the family that was once so important to her.

As both girls settle into life at ‘The Edge’, learning to trust and depend on the people there, it becomes apparent that the old house has a story concealed amidst its dated rooms and it falls upon David Wilder to steer the girls through some devastating revelations.

Can this stranger carry out Fiona’s dying wishes and keep the sisters’ relationship intact? Equally, does Kate have the courage to act upon this new knowledge and create a different life for herself and those closest to her.
