Does your handwriting really say something about your IQ?
There’s been a rumour going around that people with messy handwriting are more intelligent? Is this true? We’re going to try and find out!
Doctors are renowned for having unclear scrawls on the prescriptions they give out. But is there real science behind this? Turns out there is… sort of.
If you have large handwriting you want to come across as clear and be noticed. If you have small writing you’re more introverted and more likely to concentrate.
Hard pressured writing means heavy emotions, that what you’re writing, you feel passionate about, and light pressure shows that you’re more chilled out than the hard pressing folks.
Linking of words means you make your decisions more carefully and think logically. Not connected hand writing is a sign of intuitive nature.
Now for the way you cross your ts. Low crosses show you’re insecure and high crosses are believed to mean you have high self-esteem.
It goes on to very specific details e.g. long ys mean you love to travel; apparently.
This information was all taken from The Business Insider’s article on the same subject. But, it doesn’t really answer our original question.
The science behind messy handwriting is simple – the brain thinks so fast the handwriting comes out very quickly and therefore in an untidy fashion.
But technically speaking, there is no real correlation between poor handwriting and IQ.
So what would happen if the brainiacs just took their time with writing what they think? Or is there just a link that hasn’t been discovered?
It’s safe to say for now this post can be finished and then opened for discussion. If some new science emerges, we’ll be sure to write another post.
