Maxine Burgess

I am a Devonshire born Janner, now living in the Antilles. I'm a mother, adventurer, and drama queen, who has survived for nearly seven years without hair straighteners, good fitting underwear or decent strawberries.
These books are based on my own experiences living here and coming up close and personal with some of the most strange, beautiful, and sometimes scary inhabitants of these islands. The books mix fact, folklore and myths, and also material from the people I've spoken to and creatures I've met.
It is true that I was once attacked by a giant centipede. It is also true that I have had an up close and very personal experience with a manchineel tree and I have a scar to prove it. I have, however, never seen the Gumby.

  • The Iguana's Tail

When the mighty creator Gods are looking the wrong way, Dark Obeah is stolen, and the magical balance of the island is thrown into full tilt.
