Keith Fisher
Dr Keith Fisher has been a chemist all his working life. He was born in Birmingham in 1940, during the bombing. Passing the 11-plus allowed him to go to a grammar school in Smethwick.
Leaving school, he worked in chemical laboratories and did his degree, part-time. After graduation he went to Canada to start a post-graduate degree, which he finished at the University of London, gaining a Ph.D.
Post-doctoral studies and several teaching positions at universities in America took up the next five years. Following his return to the UK, he took up a senior lectureship at the University of Lagos, followed by a post at the University of Khartoum. After nearly thirteen years in Africa, he spent two years in Canada before coming to Australia in 1989.
His Uncle Percy was a great story teller and this is what stirred the author's interest in short stories.
