The author grew up in Nottingham and taught there for six years in two primary schools. In 1976 he went to Bahrain and taught there for fourteen years in an international primary school. Returning to the United Kingdom with his family in 1991 he and his wife took over a small independent school which they operated for twenty-four years. During this time, they also began to operate nursing homes and currently have four. The author, his wife and two cats, lives in Somerset
