James Hodge

George Taylor Files Professor of Modern Languages, emeritus, Bowdoin College, James Hodge offered a course in European Epic and Myth for circa twenty years and wrote a number of articles linking Tolkien's The Hobbit with Germanic mythology and Parry-Lord's analysis of "Homeric" style characteristics. From childhood, he has been fascinated by Germanic and Celtic myth.
